Terms of Use

Plain English: Use lockin. honestly, don't try to cheat the exercise system, and understand that we're a screen-time tool — not medical advice. The full legal terms are below.
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the lockin. mobile application (the "App") operated by lockin. ("we", "us", or "our"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your jurisdiction) to use the App. If you are under 18 (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction), you represent that your parent or legal guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf.
2. The service
lockin. blocks distracting apps on your device and lets you earn screen time back through physical activity. The App uses:
- Apple's Screen Time API (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, DeviceActivity) to enforce app blocking at the operating-system level.
- On-device camera pose detection (Apple Vision framework) to verify exercises in real time. No video is recorded or transmitted.
- Optional fitness integrations (Apple Health, WHOOP, Strava) to credit screen time for workouts logged outside the App.
The App is designed as a self-improvement tool. It is not a parental-control or device-management solution.
3. Your data
- lockin. is local-first: most activity, preference, and progress data is stored on your device.
- We also rely on limited third-party infrastructure for subscriptions, connected-service webhooks, device-token delivery, and related support operations.
- You can clear local app data from within the App or by deleting the App from your device.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Attempt to circumvent, manipulate, or spoof exercise verification mechanisms (e.g., faking camera input, fabricating workout data).
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or tamper with the App or its extensions.
- Use the App for any unlawful, harmful, or fraudulent purpose.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's services, servers, or infrastructure.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or other means to interact with the App in ways it was not designed to support.
We reserve the right to restrict access for users who violate these terms.
5. Subscriptions and payments
Plans
lockin. offers the following premium options to unlock additional features:
- Monthly subscription — auto-renewing on a monthly basis.
- Annual subscription — auto-renewing on a yearly basis.
- Lifetime purchase — a one-time, non-recurring payment for permanent access.
Billing
- All payments are processed by Apple through your Apple ID account and are subject to Apple's terms.
- Payment is charged at confirmation of purchase.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.
- Your account will be charged for renewal within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the same price.
- Prices are set in App Store Connect and may vary by region. Price changes will be communicated in accordance with Apple's policies.
Free trials
- We may offer free trial periods at our discretion. Trial eligibility is determined by Apple and is typically limited to one trial per Apple ID.
- Any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
- If you do not cancel before the trial ends, your subscription will automatically begin and you will be charged.
Cancellation
- You can manage and cancel subscriptions at any time in your device's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current paid period — you retain access until then.
Refunds
Refunds are handled by Apple in accordance with their refund policy. We cannot issue refunds directly.
6. Screen Time API and device permissions
- The App requires authorization to use Apple's Screen Time API to function. If you revoke this permission, the App cannot block or unblock apps.
- The App may request access to your camera (for exercise verification), HealthKit (for step and workout data), and notifications (for reminders). Each permission is optional and can be revoked in iOS Settings at any time.
- We cannot see which specific apps you select to block. Apple's Screen Time API uses opaque tokens that protect your app-usage privacy.
7. Health and fitness disclaimer
lockin. is not a medical device, fitness program, or healthcare service.
- The App encourages physical activity as a mechanism to earn screen time. It does not prescribe, diagnose, or treat any medical condition.
- Always consult a qualified healthcare professional before beginning any exercise program, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions, injuries, or concerns.
- You exercise at your own risk. We are not liable for any physical injury, health complication, or property damage arising from exercises performed while using the App.
- Exercise form guidance provided by the App (if any) is approximate and should not be relied upon as professional instruction.
8. Intellectual property
The App and all its content — including design, code, graphics, animations, text, and the lockin. brand — are owned by us and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works from any part of the App without our prior written consent.
9. User data and privacy
Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes what data we collect and how we use it. By using the App, you consent to our data practices as described in that policy.
10. Availability and changes
- We strive to keep the App running reliably but cannot guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation.
- We may update, modify, or discontinue features, pricing, or the entire service at any time, with or without notice.
- We are not liable for any loss or inconvenience caused by downtime, bugs, or feature changes.
11. Third-party services
The App integrates with third-party services (Apple, RevenueCat, WHOOP, Strava). Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or conduct of third-party services.
12. Disclaimer of warranties
The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will meet your requirements, be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, or that exercise detection will be perfectly accurate.
13. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, in no event shall lockin., its officers, directors, employees, or agents be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages — including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, personal injury, or property damage — arising from or related to your use of or inability to use the App, regardless of the theory of liability.
Our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from or relating to these Terms or the App shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty US dollars (US $50), whichever is greater.
14. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless lockin. and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, or expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third party's rights.
15. Termination
- You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it from your device.
- We may restrict your access to the App at our discretion if we believe you have violated these Terms, without prior notice or liability.
- Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will remain in effect.
16. Governing law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Sweden, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the App shall be resolved in the courts of Sweden, unless mandatory consumer-protection laws in your jurisdiction provide otherwise.
17. Changes to these terms
We may revise these Terms at any time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you through the App. Your continued use of the App after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the changes, stop using the App.
18. Entire agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and lockin. regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements, representations, and understandings.
